Meeting Minutes - 6th March 2014

15 Mar 2014 by Ross Macpherson

Hi Beer Buddies – here we go with the first Minutes from our March meeting. Strap yourselves in as we are giving this new technology a go!

Firstly, thanks to Kev for hosting the evening which once again raised the bar in terms of home made sausage rolls and other delicacies.

Apologies from Jim who was in San Fran but did contribute and old favorite in terms of selections for the evening.

Onto the tastings:

Bernie was first out of the blocks looking to startle the rest of the pack early in the year with his Pint sized “Little Creatures Bright Ale”. A great way to start the year and the Buddies were very generous with a 3.40 whilst the Beer Buddy brought us back to Earth with a 2.87.

Yours truly whipped out a little know Queensland sleeper, a “Burleigh 28 Pale Ale”, a throwback to beers of the 70’s. We rated this one a 3.20 whilst the Buddy came in at 3.07. Comment of the night was Bernie’s rating of a 12 out of 10 for this one…..clearly the Dark Horse still playing mind games with us.

Joe then separated the pack quickly just like his days back on the farm with a “Feral Hop Hog India Pale Ale”. An American style IPA with strong pine needle and citrus aroma. Baz woke up loved this one..gave it a 4 (out of who knows what??) and Kev was a fan as well. We rated this one a 3.20 and Beer Buddy gave it a strong 3.76!

Baz then relaxed the shoulders and pitched up his selection. A “Arvo Brew 51” considered a "Little Scoundrel. This was the UPSET OF THE EVENING…we gave this a 3.40 whilst the Buddy SMASHED it at 1.54! DISHWATER BAZ!

Buntz then needed to wash the taste out of our mouth and introduced us to a “Tooheys Extra Dry”..unfortunately more mouthwash here as we gave it a 2.50 whilst the Buddy belted it was a 1.83!..what a NIGHT!

Finally Kev tried to bring some order back to the table with a “Carlton Draught” IN A CAN!..presentation is everything as we gave this a 2.90 whilst the Beer Buddy came in at 1.90.

Special mention to Jims selection of a Cascade Pale Ale previously dealt with by the Club at a 3.40 against the Buddy rating of 2.37.

OTHER MATTERS:
