10th Sept Meeting Minutes

20 Sep 2014 by Ross Macpherson

Hi Beer Buddies – our final Meeting minutes for the year was held at Baz’ house and once again the big fella did not let us down. Home made sausage rolls and a constant stream of nibbles provided the perfect launching pad for our USA Pale Ale experiment.

On with the tasting:

Baz opened proceedings with a “Founders Pale Ale”. Quickly nicknamed the “Peter Allen” of Pale Ales by Buntz, this little beauty was certainly all singing and all dancing with its floral hop aroma and malty sweetness. We gave this a 3.50 whilst the Buddy came in at 3.40.

Next was yours truly who tried to stun the boys early with a “Moylans Tipperary Pale Ale”. certainly the best packaged of the night with the label dripping with awards and winning stickers… sweetly sharp and smoothly bitter and we gave this a 3.50 whilst the buddy came in at 3.40.

Buntz then unveiled a “Bridgeport IPA”, deep golden in colour, a tiny bottle with a bold taste. Another 3.50 from us whilst the buddy came in at 3.49.

Bernie then went all San Francisco on us and whipped out a "Anchor Liberty Ale. A heavily hopped ale with a copper colour and rumour that several San Fran homosexuals died bringing this brew to being. 3.60 from us and 3.57 by the Buddy.

Jim delivered under great pressure after a long flight, no sleep and still managed to stun the club with a very spicy “Karl Strauss Pintail Pale Ale”. This became equal leader at 3.60 with the buddy at 3.34.

Joe finished the night with a curve ball by introducing us to a “4Pines Pale Ale”. Plenty of Pine and Grapefruit with a tight bitter finish..bit like his photograph. 3.40 from us and 3.22 from the buddy.
